Assemble Any Office Chair in 5 Simple Steps

As we have mentioned before, assembling an office chair is not that difficult. In fact, you can assemble any office chair you want in merely 5 simple steps. Don’t worry, we will be walking you through each of these steps in great detail so that you won’t feel at a loss about what to do next.

Office Chair Assembly in 5 Steps

Here are the 5 easy steps that you must follow in order to assemble an office chair:

Step 1: Unbox the Office Chair Part and Get Everything You Need Together

This part might sound obvious, but it’s an important step of the whole process. You have to get all the stuff you need to assemble your office chair in one place so that the rest of the process can go as smooth as butter.

Here are the things you’ll find in the box: a back cushion, gas list, two armrests, the base, the seat cushion, caster wheels, and the hardware required for assembly. It would be great if you already know what each part does in order to put your chair together without any hassle.

Step 2: Attach the Wheels and the Gas Lift

Now that you have all the parts you need at your arm’s reach, you need to take the base of the chair and attach the caster wheels to it. Turn the base upside down, take the five caster wheels that come with the chair, and pop them right into the slots.

After you’re done installing the wheels on the base of the chair, you need to invert the base and then move it around a bit to check if the wheels are firmly attached to it.

The next thing you need to do is, insert the gas lift/hydraulic lift cylinder at the middle of the base. The gas lift is completely friction-based, and so you can drop it right into the slot.

Step 3: Install the Seat Plate

Now, take the seat, invert it and place the seat plate at the middle portion of the seat. You should be seeing four holes for screwing the seat plate into place. Align the seat plate with the four holes located at the bottom of the seat.

Insert the screws into those holes and tighten them up using the Allen wrench that comes included with the package. Make sure you firmly secure the screws into place. You wouldn’t want them getting loose and coming off, would you?

Next, put the seal plate over the seat plate and take four short bolts, and secure the seal plate into place.

Step 4: Attach the Armrests

Take one of the arms of the chair and place it in the correct position. Align it with the holes situated at the bottom of the chair. Insert the screws and tighten them into place. Make sure the bolts are properly lined up.

Take the Allen wrench again and secure those screws. Next, take the other armrest and place it on the other side of the chair. Now, repeat the whole process to secure the second armrest into place.

Step 5: Install the Back

The final step of the whole assembly process involves attaching the back of the chair. Now if you want to, you can put them back on once you’ve got the screws on the armrests in them.

You can then install the back before you tighten the screws up. This might be a little easier for you.

You should see two metal brackets near the bottom of the back that sticks out. Place the back on the rest of the chair so that the metal brackets slip into the place where the slots are located.

You have to use two long bolts on the back and two short bolts on the side arms to secure the back with the armrests. I suggest you use a power drill while securing these bolts as that will save you a lot of time.

Don’t worry about scratching the area near the bolts as most office chairs come with little covers that can be placed over the bolted area to cover up all those scratches.

Finally, it’s time to put the seat on top of the base. Line up the hole of the seat plate with the gas lift attached to the base and securely set it down.

And there you have it! An office chair ready for use.
